State Minister Morlok visits Heliatek booth at Plastic Electronics Conference & Exhibition in Dresden, Germany

Dresden (Germany), October 12, 2011 –State Minister Morlok was welcomed by Thibaud Le Séguillon, CEO of Heliatek, and Dr. Martin Pfeiffer, CTO of Heliatek, during his visit to the Plastic Electronics Conference & Exhibition. While at the Heliatek booth, they presented him the next generation of organic solar modules.

Sven Morlok, Saxony’s State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport, got an update on Heliatek’s patented photovoltaic developments and what this green solar technology represents for Dresden and the Free State of Saxony.

“Having just moved to Dresden from Asia I am impressed by the density of solar and semiconductor companies in Saxony. With our technology, we want to globally open up new markets for solar energy, but we also aim to support Saxony in assuring and further developing its leadership in solar and organic electronics”, says Thibaud Le Séguillon.

Heliatek has created over 60 jobs in the last three years in Dresden. An additional 15 new jobs will be added by the start of production in 2012. This steep growth was facilitated by the support of the German State and the Free State of Saxony, as well as the qualified workforce that is available from Dresden’s universities.

Dr. Martin Pfeiffer, co-founder and CTO of Heliatek adds: „Heliatek is the first company worldwide about to start industrial production of organic photovoltaic panels based on small molecules. The raw materials, the technology, the production process and manufacturing devices are unique and have been mostly developed jointly with local partners from Saxony.”

Heliatek’s OPV modules are displayed at the Plastic Electronics Conference & Exhibition in Dresden Germany at booth 2.070 until October 13, 2011.

About Heliatek:
Heliatek was spun-off in 2006 from the Technical University of Dresden (IAPP) and the University of Ulm. The company's founding brought together internationally renowned expertise in the fields of organic optoelectronics and organic oligomer synthesis. As the global technology leader in the field of organic photovoltaics (OPV) based on small molecules, Heliatek is currently making the transition from pure technology development to industrial manufacture. Heliatek's goal is to mass-produce organic photovoltaic panels using the world's first roll-to-roll process for the vacuum deposition of small molecules in 2012.

Heliatek maintains a total staff of some 70 employees and specialists at its facilities in Dresden and Ulm. Investors in Heliatek include leading financial and industrial companies such as BASF, Bosch, RWE, and Wellington Partners. Research and development work, as well as the installation of production technology, has been funded by the Free State of Saxony, the BMBF (Federal Ministry for Education & Research), the BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology), and the European Union.
