heliatek GmbH was founded in summer 2006 as a common spin-off company of TU Dresden and University of Ulm. After seed financing by High-Tech Gründerfonds, a first financing round was closed in 2007 with BASF VC GmbH, Bosch GmbH und Wellington Partners as investors. A joint development agreement with BASF and Bosch secures a long-term technological cooperation with these strategic investors. heliatek's patented tandem cell technology permits the making of organic photovoltaic (PV) cells, which in an ideal manner cover the full solar spectrum. Further, heliatek's new class of absorber material (patent pending) is a molecular construction set with superiour photovoltaic properties. heliatek's technology permits extremely low-cost and efficient Roll-to-Roll production of large area PV modules on cheap, flexible substrates. The core technology is based on well-defined, non-polymeric organic materials with high thermal und photochemical stability.
